DC Lockdown? - District Of Columbia Issues Order To Stay At Home

Is DC Under Lockdown?

DC is under an order to "stay at home."  Travel is allowed for essential activities like picking up food, essential household goods or services, medical supplies, going to a health care facility, caring for a family member, elderly person, or pet in another residence.  Read the full list at the link below.

District Of Columbia Stay At Home Order

The District of Columbia Mayor issued Order 2020-054 on March 30, 2020.  Is an order for individuals to stay at home in their residence, except for essential activities, essential business, or essential government functions.

What Are Essential Activities?

The District of Columbia order to stay at home includes the following essential activity explanation.  (Screenshot directly from the order)

Allowable Outdoor Activities

Section IV of the order defines  and gives examples of allowable outdoor activities that you can do as long as social distancing is maintained.  The examples include activities like walking, running, hiking, biking, dog walking, rollerblading, skateboarding, gardening, golf, tennis, and other activities where there is no person to person contact and everyone participating can practice safe social distancing.

In my opinion this is not technically a lockdown, since travel related to essential activities and some outdoor activities are allowed.
