New Jersey Coronavirus Updates

As of March 16, 2020 Governor Murphy announced major social distancing efforts to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19.

As of March 16, 2020 Governor Murphy announced major social distancing efforts to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19.

Executive Order 104 put the following social distancing efforts into effect:

  • Gatherings are limited to 50 or fewer people
  • Schools are closed beginning Wednesday March 18th
  • Higher education will cease all in person education beginning March 18th
  • Taking actions to ensure eligible students can still receive free or reduced meals
  • Casinos, nightclubs, theaters, gyms, fitness centers, theaters and similar recreational venues will be closed to the public starting on March 16th at 8:00 PM.
  • Other non essential recreational, retail, and entertainment businesses must cease operations daily from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  • Restaurants are limited to delivery or take-out.
"indefinitely closes all public and private preschool, elementary and secondary schools, and institutions of higher education, as well as closes all casinos, racetracks, gyms, movie theaters, and performing arts centers. The order also mandates that all non-essential retail, recreational, and entertainment businesses must cease daily operations from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. All restaurant establishments, with or without a liquor license, are limited to offering only delivery and/or take out-services only, both during daytime hours and after 8 pm."

Their primary goal is to flatten the curve, or rush of new cases, to help make sure the healthcare system does not get overwhelmed and overload healthcare professionals.
