Virginia Stay At Home Order Issued By Governor Northam In Effect Through June 10th

Is Virginia Under Lockdown Through June 10th?

Technically it is not a lockdown, it is a "stay-at-home" order.  This order does still allow individuals to travel for reasons such as essential work, caring for family members, picking up groceries, prescriptions, and seeking medical care.

Governor Ralph Northam issued a statewide Stay-At-Home order for Virginia.  It will be effective March 30th and stay in place through June 10th, 2020.  The executive order requires strict social distance, but allows individuals to leave their residence to seek medical attention, work, care for family members, pick up goods or services like groceries and prescriptions, and some limited outdoor activity if social distancing guidelines can be safely followed.  You can read Executive Order Fifty Three here.

This executive order closed all non-essential businesses, limits public gatherings to less than ten people, and directs all K-12 schools to remain closed for the remainder of the school year.

Governor Northam said:

“Our message to Virginians is clear: stay home. We know this virus spreads primarily through human-to-human contact, and that’s why it’s so important that people follow this order and practice social distancing. I’m deeply grateful to everyone for their cooperation during this unprecedented and difficult time.”
