Governor Wolf Expands The "Stay At Home" Order To Nine More Counties

19 Counties Across Pennsylvania Are Now Advised To Stay At Home

Update  -  As of 4-15-20 Pennsylvania's newest order now requires both employees and customers to wear masks inside stores or buildings that are maintaining in person operations.

Today, March 27th, Governor Wolf and Dr. Rachel Levine, the PA Secretary of Health, added nine new counties to the stay at home order.  The nine new counties added were Berks, Butler, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Luzerne, Pike, Wayne, Westmoreland, and York.  

This brings the total number of Pennsylvania counties under a stay at home order to nineteen.  The revised order will take effect at 8:00 PM on Friday March 27th and will currently continue to April 6, 2020.  

What Activities Or Travel Is Deemed Essential?

There are no travel restrictions at this time but Governor Wolf is asking people to only travel for the following reasons.  The list below is somewhat general.  Check out their full list on the governor.pa.gov press release.  

  • Tasks to maintain the health and safety of the household (including pets).  For example: Picking up food or medicine, going to a doctors appointment, or picking up supplies needed to work from home.
  • Picking up or delivering supplies or services related to the health and safety of a household.  For example caring for the elderly, minors, dependents, persons with disabilities, or other vulnerable persons.
  • Caring for a family member or pet in another household.
  • Outdoor activities like walking,  hiking, or running (if social distancing can be maintained - 6 ft)
  • Performing work that provides essential services or products at a life sustaining business.
  • Picking up distance learning supplies, meals, or other related services from educational institutions.
  • Travel to return to your place of residence outside PA
  • Travel to return to your place of residence (inside PA) from outside PA
  • Travel required by law enforcement or court order.

Allegheny, Berks, Bucks, Butler, Chester, Delaware, Erie, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Wayne, Westmoreland, and York Counties.
