Statewide New York Executive Order To Mitigate The Spread Of COVID-19

Executive Order No 202.6  was signed New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo on March 18, 2020

In general, from March 20 at 8:00 PM to April 17th, non-essential businesses and non profit entities shall utilize work from home procedures to the maximum extent possible that they can safely utilize.  Employers shall also reduce in person workforces at their locations by 75%.  Businesses that are deemed essential are not subject to these restrictions.  

  • Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order mandating that businesses that rely on in the office personnel to decrease their in-office workforce by 75%.
  • Some exemptions from this order will include media, shipping, warehousing, grocery and food production, utilities, pharmacies, healthcare providers, banks and related financial institutions.
  • The Department of Financial Services issued a new directive to New York State mortgage services to provide a 90-day mortgage relief to borrowers impacted by the novel coronavirus.
  • Retail shopping malls, amusement parks and bowling alleys are to close by 8 PM Thursday in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
  • Governor Cuomo signed the bill guaranteeing job protection and pay for New Yorkers who have been quarantined as a result of novel coronavirus.
  • Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order directing all schools in New York to close by Wednesday, March 18 for two weeks ending April 1.
  • Casinos, theaters, and gyms are closed until further notice. Bars and restaurants are closed, but takeout food can be ordered during this period of closure.
  • New York State is waiving all park fees in state, local, and county parks.
  • Testing will be free for all eligible New Yorkers as long as it is ordered by a health care provider.
